P12 a) - Getting In Contact With a Blind Person

The person I am going to use for the first part of my news story is a man named Riyaz, He is a young person with a disablity (blind) and regularly visits the gym and trains. Interviewing him would be beneficial for my newscast as he may inspire young people, like myself and show them that setbacks like having a disability does not have to stop you from doing what you want to do. With a little help and courage, you can achieve just as much, if not more.

I got in contact with him via email and requested a telephone interview.

He accepted and set an interview. It was more easier to speak to him conversation wise than i had expected as he was very friendly and open about his experiences. He spoke very personally which allowed me to get good information for my news story as well as learn new things which was a really nice experiences. I believe that he will have a very large influence on our target audience, especially because they are young adults. From our research we found out that many of the male audiences like hearing about sports and health as they may like going to gym to get fit. And for the females, this links to human interest therefore will be intrigued to know that a blind person can do the same as stereotypical abled boys. This could also help those with a disability who may not necessarily be blind but with a different illness.
